The reason for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s tense appearances at the “Mother” premiere has been revealed.
A lip reader told the Daily Mail that the couple, who appeared frustrated and irritated at times, were merely debating poses and positioning for the red carpet photographers at Wednesday’s event in Los Angeles.
The expert said that during the now-viral exchange, the “Let’s Get Loud” singer appeared to ask the “Air” star whether her low-cut top was “showing too much,” prompting him to respond that it was fine.
After finding their joint pose, Affleck appeared to tell his wife to come closer to him before leaning into her ear and saying, “Don’t worry, babe.”
Lopez seemingly replied, “Come close to me.”
Following their completed photos, the “Argo” director turned to the “Shotgun Wedding” actress and said, “That’s us, done” before giving her a kiss and asking if she was OK.
Lopez said, “Yes” and then informed Affleck that they needed to “step over there.”
The newlyweds then continued to pack on the PDA and looked cute when Affleck, 50, lovingly watched as Lopez, 53, reapplied her lipgloss.
Although their red carpet row has been defused, Lopez and Affleck found themselves at the center of negative press again when a clip of him “slamming” her door made the rounds on TikTok.
The so-called “miserable” footage was filmed Tuesday — one day before the “Mother” premiere — and fans believed the pair were in a fight.
“Ohh s–t! That’s Ben Affleck visibly irritated slamming that door on Jennifer Lopez,” one person tweeted. “Ufff… ”.
“you can ‘have it all’ and still be miserable,” noted another.

A third wrote, “He purposefully looks away from her while she’s getting in the car. They definitely fighting lol.”
Others merely wrote off the exchange as a result of the A-listers noticing a paparazzo and becoming frustrated.
The Oscar-winning actor has developed a reputation for appearing moody since J.Lo appeared to chastise him at the 2023 Grammys.
However, the “Gone Girl” star later clarified the situation, telling the Hollywood Reporter that he was merely having a moment of jest with his wife.
Affleck explained that when he realized the camera crew was “framing” them in the shot, he told Lopez, “As soon they start rolling, I’m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to [the host] Trevor [Noah].”
“She goes, ‘You better f–king not leave,’” he added.
“That’s a husband-and-wife thing. I mean, some of it is. I’m like, ‘All right, who is this act?’”
